Monaco

Monaco is a country of opulence and luxury. The harbors are filled with the most expensive yachts, and Ferrari and Lamborghini cars zoom through the streets, and finding cheap shops is challenging. Visiting Monaco is a genuinely unconventional experience. The country offers plenty of tourist attractions, such as beautiful city beaches (although crowded), parks, landmarks, and museums. You can explore this mini-state in just an afternoon or spend several days here.

Transportation

If you’re traveling by car along the southern coast of France, Monaco is an ideal stop on your journey. The road traffic can be relatively dense, and parking is paid, so it’s worth parking your car somewhere in France or Italy and simply walking into Monaco.

You can reach Monaco by bus if you’re in the nearby resort town of Nice without a car. Wealthier visitors can fly to Nice and then take a helicopter directly to Monaco.

Within the city, you can get around by city buses or simply by walking. Distances are small, and there’s always something to observe.

Místa k navštívení

Tête de Chien

A beautiful viewpoint overlooking the entire Monaco and the French coast beyond. It is located on a cliff just behind the city. It is popular both during the day and at night, offering views of the illuminated cities. Monaco is right at your fingertips, while on the other side of the cliff, you can see the coast with nearby Nice.

You can reach Tête de Chien by car through France (the viewpoint is located in France) or by taking a pedestrian path from Monaco with a relatively steep ascent.

The place is also suitable for sleeping in a car or a camper. You can comfortably cook here, enjoy wine with a coast view, and spend several nights. It might be crowded in the evening, as this viewpoint is prevalent, and locals and travelers alike spend their evenings here.

Palais princier de Monaco

One of the main attractions of the country is the royal palace, which serves as the residence of the head of state. You can visit the palace after paying an entrance fee when the ruler is not present. The changing of the guards, which takes place every day five minutes before noon and lasts for 10 minutes, is also popular. In front of the palace, there is a square, and it’s worth exploring the entire peninsula where the palace is located. There, you’ll find a beautiful view of the city. You can also find a marine aquarium, lovely gardens with a sea view, the highly visited Notre-Dame Cathedral, and a beach in the form of a large concrete pier.

Casino

For approximately 10 euros, you can take a look inside the famous Casino in the Monte Carlo district. However, you can enter the entrance hall without paying the entrance fee after going through the security check.

Larvotto beach

A relatively large pebble beach. Like other Monaco beaches, it is heavily visited and among the most popular ones. You’ll find shops, ice cream stands, and toilets here. There is also a beach shower, as on most beaches.

Monte Carlo Harbour

Taking a walk around the harbors in Monaco is also worth it. The most famous one is Monte Carlo Harbor, located below the aforementioned peninsula with the royal palace (which offers a nice view of the harbor). The harbor is home to the most luxurious yachts, and there’s plenty to see.
